Biophotonic Scanner Information

The BioPhotonic Scanner is  a non-invasive device that uses a blue light to measure the antioxidant levels in a person's skin, specifically their carotenoid levels, and provides a Skin Carotenoid Score (SCS) . The scan is quick, takes only seconds, and is harmless. The score is meant to provide an indication of how well an individual's diet and lifestyle are providing antioxidants to protect against free radical damage.

How it works

  • The device uses a technology called resonant Raman spectroscopy

  • A beam of blue light is directed at the palm of your hand.

  • Carotenoids in the skin absorb the blue light and then emit a green light.

  • The scanner measures the intensity of the green light to determine the concentration of carotenoids.

  • The result is a Skin Carotenoid Score (SCS) that serves as an indication of your overall antioxidant status.

What the results mean

  • A higher SCS is associated with a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, which are high in carotenoids.

  • The score is not a direct measure of a specific nutrient but rather a reflection of long-term lifestyle habits, such as diet, exercise, and other lifestyle choices.

  • The scan is intended to help people understand their antioxidant status and encourage them to make positive changes through their diet and supplementation.

Important considerations

  • The scan is not a medical device and has not been evaluated by the FDA.

  • It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

  • The score reflects your antioxidant status over a longer period, so it is best to wait 6-8 weeks between scans to see gradual improvement.

PLEASE NOTE - this is completely optional.
